We don't inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children | David Brower

In 2007 I decided to follow a childhood dream, travelling to South Africa to volunteer for cage diving operator White Shark Projects. From the first moment I saw a great white shark in the flesh my life changed forever, as it suddenly dawn on me... Jaws is a pile o' crap.

You see, there before me was a fish which for all the mass media had me know, was fully raedy to hurl itself out of the water and bite me in two, savouring every last drop of blood. Yet during the hour this 3.5metre juvenille spent circling our boat she barely even exposed her teeth, gliding through the water with a grace you simply cannot comprehend unless you've seen it for yourself. There was no blood, no flesh flying, nothing of the impression the general public is given of these animals, and yet not a single person could've been any more awestruck.

Now the biological, physical and behavioural inaccuracies of one of the most significant pieces of pop culture of all time (ie: Jaws) may not strike many people as important - but to me that flippancy reflects a much deeper, long-term and extremely damaging problem. It struck me that while designers the world over were fighting tooth and nail for commercial contracts, little if any help was being offered to organisations dedicated to the conservation and research of wildlife which has existed on this planet since long before we did.

Many species are now threatened with extinction, and quite frankly I believe that future generations deserve the opportunity to experience amazing creatures such as these in their natural habitat, even if it's an opportunity my own and previous generations have largely taken for granted and abused.

At the start of 2008 I went self employed, beginning Creative Resolve, with a long term view of helping organisations involved with wildlife research, conservation, ecoutourism and education, get the media they need to both enhance their work, but also make it accessible to a wider audience. While (great white) sharks are my passion and primary interest, in the coming years it is my goal to work with as many organisations and species as possible, in the hope that we can preserve just a few of the natural worlds true wildlife.

Research & Conservation | Multimedia services

Web site design services

A serious problem that many researchers or conservationists face is taking their information to the public domain, in a format which is truly accessible.

A web site gives you the ability to communicate with likeminded individuals and groups across the globe within a second. This offers organisations limitless potential in terms of exposing their work, and can subsequently help to generate significant interest and compassion from the public domain.

Branding design services

Designers typically overlook organisations involved with research, ecotourism and conservation, and as a result such groups often have relatively weak identities.

With my branding services I focus on developing identities (such as logos and stationery) which truly reflect the core values of such organisations. This is an area where my passion for wildlife research and conservation is fundamental in my ability to produce unique, powerful and dynamic multimedia.
